With Compass for Africa 5th Edition

R&W With Compass for Africa

A Day of Sport, Local Discovery and Solidarity

The fifth edition of the charity event organised by Compass Asset Management SA brought together over 100 participants, raising CHF 42,750 in support of the Hosanna educational project in Ethiopia.

Lugano, 20 September 2026. Sport, shared experiences and solidarity brought the hills surrounding Lugano to life during the fifth edition of Ride & Walk with Compass for Africa, the charity initiative organised by Compass Asset Management SA in support of the educational projects of Fondazione Nuovo Fiore in Africa.

With over 100 participants and a total of CHF 42,750 raised, equivalent to EUR 45,240, the 2026 edition reached a new milestone, surpassing the previous year’s fundraising result. An achievement that reflects not only the event’s continued growth, but above all the shared commitment to turning participation into meaningful support.

Moncucchetto: The Pleasure of Coming Together

Nestled among the vineyards of Lugano, Fattoria Moncucchetto welcomed participants at the end of their respective routes, becoming the day’s gathering place. Following the sporting activities, walkers and cyclists came together in a convivial atmosphere, sharing stories, making new connections and enjoying moments of friendship. An opportunity to share not only the sporting experience, but also the spirit behind the initiative: joining forces to support a project capable of creating opportunities for future generations.

Discovering the Region, Two Ways to Experience It

For its fifth edition, Ride & Walk embraced a new setting: the hills surrounding Lugano, with their historic villages, green trails, lake views and vineyards.

A different landscape from the mountain routes of previous editions, yet equally captivating, offering participants a fresh perspective on the region.

The event featured the two activities that define its identity: Ride, dedicated to cycling enthusiasts, and Walk, designed for those who prefer exploring the landscape on foot.

Cyclists could choose between two routes of varying length and difficulty, while walkers discovered some of the most picturesque corners of the Lugano region.

Two different ways to experience the landscape, united by the pleasure of being together and the shared commitment to supporting the same charitable cause.

Bringing Together Sport and Solidarity

The fifth edition was attended by Gabriele Bruera, CEO of Compass Asset Management SA and a driving force behind the initiative since its inception, and Riccardo Braglia, President of Fondazione Nuovo Fiore in Africa, the beneficiary of the funds raised for the Hosanna project in Ethiopia.

Adding a special dimension to the day was the presence of two prominent figures in Italian cycling: Alessandro Ballan, the 2008 UCI Road World Champion, and Davide Cassani, former head coach of the Italian national road cycling team and long-standing cycling commentator for RAI.

One of the highlights of the event was the charity auction conducted by Matteo Pelli, with Marco Alazraki serving as moderator. Among the items presented was Alessandro Ballan’s signed rainbow jersey. The auction actively engaged those attending, providing another opportunity to contribute to the charitable project.

The participation of these distinguished guests enriched the event, further strengthening the connection between sport, community involvement and social commitment.

A Tangible Contribution to Hosanna’s Future

The most significant achievement of the fifth edition extends beyond sporting participation, translating into meaningful support for an educational project with considerable social impact. The entire amount raised will be donated to Fondazione Nuovo Fiore in Africa, contributing to the construction of an upper secondary school in Hosanna, Ethiopia.

The new facility will complete an existing school campus that currently provides education up to Grade 8, expanding educational opportunities for young people in the local community and enabling them to continue their studies within the same school complex. This forward-looking initiative forms part of the long-standing relationship of collaboration and support developed over the years through Ride & Walk with Compass for Africa.

By exceeding the previous edition’s fundraising result, the 2026 event reaffirms the value of an ongoing commitment that, year after year, helps transform solidarity into tangible opportunities.

Five Editions, An Ongoing Commitment

Five editions reflect a journey of participation and solidarity, made possible by the generosity of supporters and the dedication of those who contribute to organising the event each year.

The event was coordinated by Giacomo Amore of Compass Asset Management SA, with the support of Alessandro Di Marco for communications, creative direction and photographic documentation. Compass Asset Management SA extends its sincere gratitude to all participants, volunteers, partners and supporters who contributed to the success of the fifth edition.

Because the true value of Ride & Walk with Compass for Africa extends far beyond the event itself, continuing through the projects and opportunities made possible by collective generosity.
